Cold Lake Fishing Derby:

With a solid reputation for big lake trout, anglers from across the prairies, BC and even the northern U.S. flock to Cold Lake every June for the annual Cold Lake Fishing Derby. Not only does Cold Lake offer some of the best freshwater fishing in western Canada, but its picturesque scenery and unique landscape make Cold Lake one of Canada's most sought after destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

🎆 Canada Day at Kinosoo Beach:

Cold Lake doesn’t hold back when it comes to Canada Day (July 1st). The beach becomes the place to be, with food trucks, live music, kids' activities, and an incredible fireworks display that lights up the lake. It’s one of those days where the whole town comes together — and whether you’re new or local, you’ll feel like you belong.

💦 Aqua Days at Kinosoo Beach:

Held every August long weekend (Heritage Day), Aqua Days is a Cold Lake summer favourite that brings the community together for lakeside fun.

Held every August long weekend at Kinosoo Beach, it’s packed with fun — from face painting and foam parties to local vendors, games, and live entertainment. Whether you’ve got little ones to entertain or just want to soak up the summer energy, there’s something for everyone.

Here’s my local tip: If you live nearby, skip the car. Walking down to the beach is always my go-to no parking stress, no long walk back, and it’s a great way to enjoy the atmosphere before you even get there.

🏷️ City-Wide Sale – In August

On August 16th-17th Cold Lake’s City-Wide Sale is a bargain hunter’s dream! Every August, families and local businesses set up garage, yard, and sidewalk sales across the city — and the whole community gets involved.

It’s more than just treasure hunting — it’s a chance to explore different neighbourhoods, meet your neighbours, and even find a few hidden gems for your home. Plus, the City offers free advertising, making it easy for sellers to join in and shoppers to plan their route.

🧺 Cold Lake Farmers Market

Every Thursday from 3:30–6:30 PM at the Cold Lake Agriplex, local vendors gather to share fresh produce, handmade goods, baked treats, and more.

It’s a great place to slow down, sip a coffee, and browse through stalls filled with handmade goods, baked treats, and locally grown produce. You’ll find everything from fresh breads and rolls from The Sourdough Bread to crisp veggies and juicy local fruit when it’s in season.

There are so many amazing small businesses to support — it’s community spirit at its best.

And speaking of community, it’s also where I love to host Coffee Wednesday—a little midweek pick-me-up I started to connect with locals and share some good conversation.

They also have a nice patio for the summer months, where you can sip one of their locally crafted beers while soaking up the sunshine. Located in Cold Lake North, it’s just a few minutes from the Cold Lake Marina—making it the perfect spot to end a day by the water or start a fun evening out.

More than just a quick stop for essentials, Emma’s Convenience Store is a local gem that’s all about the sweet—and savory—things in life. 🥧 Located in Cold Lake North near Cold Lake Elementary School, it’s the perfect spot to swing by for a treat or a snack.

From the moment you walk in, the shelves are filled with snacks, but it’s the homemade goodies that really make this place special. Emma’s known for her delicious cakes, and ordering one is super quick and convenient—perfect for birthdays, get-togethers, or just because. Craving a little treat? You can even buy cake by the slice to satisfy your sweet tooth on the spot. She also whips up fresh cookies, cheesecakes, and cinnamon buns that are impossible to resist. And if that’s not enough to tempt you, there’s soft serve ice cream to cool off on a hot day.

And let’s not forget the coffee! ☕️ Emma’s proudly serves Bean Satisfied Inc. coffee—fresh roasted, fresh ground premium coffee that’s locally roasted right here in Cold Lake.
